Roofs
These examples can also be filed under the heading: Skylights, though they do also fall into the broader umbrella of "roof" as they are above one's head and provide shelter. Particularly, though, what these illustrate are the woven spiderwebbishness that goes in to constructing such structurally interesting, and therefore special, roofs. Ceilings, for the most part, are flat and boring, painted white (or, in the most unfortunate of circumstances, blasted with some crumbly material that gives the ceiling a cottage-cheese-like appearance). They cover us, shelter us, and that's it. Some, though, are made of a maze of angles that criss cross over and under one another forming a lacey lattice of dazzling shapes and odd little spatial illusions that provide for the eyes an imperceptibly small gift. An upside down birds nest, of sorts, and a visual feast if we'd just get in the happy habit of craning our necks a bit and looking upward. Raise high the roof beams, carpenters!
